TRIMIT for configurable products is built as an industry extension on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Business Central provides the foundation for finance, purchasing, sales, inventory, and other core business processes, while TRIMIT adds the product structure and configuration functionality required by companies that design, sell, purchase, or manufacture products with many possible variations.

The solution connects product configuration with pricing, bills of materials, production, purchasing, logistics, e-commerce, and financial management. This means the configuration created during quoting or order entry can continue through the complete order lifecycle without being re-entered in separate systems.

Product Configuration: master products, variants, and cost calculation

TRIMIT's Product Configuration puts every version of a product under one Master, holding an unlimited number of variants — type, material, length, width, colour, or any dimension you define — with valid and invalid combinations set upfront so every order stays buildable. Variant pricing shows the price and discount impact of each option directly in the configuration.


A generic bill of materials attached to the Master covers materials, routing, and overhead in endless levels, with Formulas defining how variant combinations affect a specific production order — replacing the need for a separate BOM per variant, and in many cases removing the need for custom code. A Temporary BOM lets you test those rules before committing them, and a Copy Master wizard builds a new Master from an existing one, including price tables, BOM, and formulas.


Cost calculation runs across every level of the BOM, from materials and operations to machine setup and overhead, giving salespeople a precise product cost directly on the order. Items can be created on the fly during order entry, or generated in stock when a configuration needs its own item number.

Sales: configured orders, pricing, and available quantity

Sales in TRIMIT Furniture handles customer-specific, configured items directly on the order — when a configuration matches an existing stock item, the system picks that item instead of creating a duplicate. Available quantity is calculated from inventory, sales orders, purchase orders, assembly orders, and production orders, at finished product, sub-assembly, or raw material level, so customers get an accurate promise date even when stock isn't immediately available.


Pricing and discounts can be set from general price lists down to customer-specific pricing per variant, including cross-company pricing within a group. Blanket orders manage framework agreements, workflow templates keep every order's activities on track, and commission can be split across up to three salespeople per customer, by percentage per customer or item group. Documents — confirmations, shipments, invoices, credit memos — can be auto-emailed using templates, and sales statistics can be saved as reusable setups by country, salesperson, customer, or product.

B2B Webshop and Sales Agent: self-service ordering, configured online

TRIMIT's B2B Webshop gives wholesale customers and your own shops direct access to product availability, delivery times, and order placement — including full product configuration — 24/7, outside opening hours and without a phone call. Customers can also register a return and communicate with your team directly through the same platform.


The Sales Agent Portal gives direct sales teams and agents the same speed for their own customers and shops, with access to the latest items, customer information, and order history, plus the ability to configure a product from the Master while placing the order. For live order visibility, the InSite portal reports on open and posted sales orders — goods sold and goods still to be delivered — as an alternative to standard sales statistics. Product images and descriptions shown across both portals are managed centrally, so what buyers see always matches what's in the system.

Production and Demand Planning: made to stock, made to order

Production in TRIMIT Furniture is built for configured items and their variants, supporting both in-house and outsourced manufacturing. Each production order holds the complete BOM, including time-consuming operations and setup times, with automatic deduction of time and materials and post-calculation showing actual consumption against the original estimate. Work centres carry capacity and can be flagged as bottlenecks, with warnings when capacity runs full. Multilevel BOMs can be built top-down at Master or item level, and items can be made to stock, made to order, or a mix of both on the same order.


Demand Planning calculates purchase and production needs from a selected range of sales orders, working down through the BOM to cover materials at every level. Different default setups can be reused across planning runs, with a demand period and horizon set per run or per product, and dampeners in place so re-planning doesn't overreact to every small change. Demand actions present the resulting suggestions, quotes, and orders in one sheet for review before execution.

Purchase orders in TRIMIT Furniture can be created directly from a sales order or a production order, with a system-generated link back to the source so special or one-off purchases stay traceable without interfering with standard demand planning. Demand planning itself can generate purchase orders automatically, using parameters set on each Master to select the right vendor or route production internally.


Receiving can be posted directly against the purchase order, with shortages and surpluses handled explicitly. For external suppliers, the Web Supplier portal gives real-time access to the specifications they're producing against, including the latest product data as soon as it's entered — so suppliers are never working from an outdated version.

Logistics in TRIMIT Furniture allocates stock to orders with a configurable pick suggestion — evaluated against customer priorities and other parameters, and manually overridable before it becomes a real warehouse pick. For external freight, Container Management tracks inbound, outbound, and internal shipments, linking sales, purchase, transfer, and pick documents to a container. Changing a single receipt or shipment date on the container updates every connected order automatically, and posting the container has the same effect as posting the shipment or receipt directly.

Clear statuses — from request and approval to receipt and credit — give customer service, sales, warehouse, and service teams real-time visibility, while rule-based approvals help prevent inventory or credit transactions from being processed too early.


Cases can cover complete products or individual components and be resolved through replacement products, spare parts, repairs, credit notes, on-site service, or returns to the supplier. Customers and sales agents can initiate and follow cases through TRIMIT E-commerce, including return reasons, descriptions, and supporting documentation such as photos. Reason codes and detailed logging make it easier to identify recurring issues involving transport, suppliers, product quality, and configuration.
